This chest was brought to me by a client for a makeover.

I forgot to take a before picture but here it is all fixed up!

I painted it a metallic pewter and added glass knobs.

It is super pretty, can't wait to use this paint on another piece!

This nightstand was a commissioned piece for a return customer.

She bought it at a thrift store and wanted it to be painted white.

She even brought an antique knob for it that she found at a local antique flea market...gotta love that!

Such a great piece with nice lines...so it was an easy transformation!

Primed, painted white, lightly distressed and waxed for protection.

I sprayed the handle a satin nickel.

The drawer was lined with a printed contact paper.

I came across this color palette picture on Pinterest and was itching to paint a piece of furniture with these colors.

If you know me well, you would know that I HATE anything red...

but when you put Red with Turquoise, I can put my hate aside!!

My friend graduated college last year and as her gift I offered her a piece of furniture for her new place. Well she found this dining table set and asked me to make it over. She wanted something fun with a punch of color...so I showed her this inspiration and she said "go for it!"

Last year my sister-in-law and I were talking about our wedding dresses and discussing if they were worth keeping for memories or for our daughters. I mentioned that I made my dress into a baby quilt for my daughter...it was the fanciest baby quilt around! I loved it for church and other "dress-up"occasions.

So she asked me if I could make her dress into a quilt for her to use.

Her dress had a long train so I had plenty of fabric to work with...though it was super scary to cut into someones dress. She gave me free reign on design which also made me nervous, I know what I like but would she like it????

So after much thought and design plan I finally cut into and started the process.

I worked on it throughout the year and finally finished it before Christmas!

The final quilt is a throw size.

I used satin-back crepe as the accent white and I also found (in my stash) a linen fabric that had a silver thread though it for the small border and flower applique.

I used flower pieces of the lace and the rosettes from the bows as accents.

When I cut the flowers from the lace the sequins and beads all became loose so I hand sewed all of the "bling" back onto the lace flowers.

It was hard to get a good picture of an all white quilt

so I took a lot of up close for the details.

The dress had over 60 buttons to use so I sewed them on the quilt to

act as the "quilting" of the the quilt.

I used the satin-back crepe for the ruffle strips.

Rosettes and lace flowers for detail. The vine was done with bias tape.

The back of the quilt is done with white minky fabric.
I saved extra pieces of lace and fabric for her to use for other memories
(such as her daughter's own wedding).

This quilt was a challenge but overall I am happy with the final product!

2011 has been a great year for Holly Do.

I thought I would take time to post some of my favorite pieces of the year.

Here they are in no particular order!

This desk was a mess when I found it on the side of the road.

Upon painting it and adding stripes it turned out perfect!

An old friend of mine bought it for her son's room!

This Farmhouse Bookcase was a pain!

It was definitely a "learning" project for me. I learned how to strip paint and also to never use polyurethane on anything with light colored paint.

Though in the long run it was worth all the trouble and turned out great.

This Antique Dresser and Mirror is a Beauty.

I just loved the outcome of this Shabby Make-up Vanity.

I found all the pieces separately at a garage sale thrift store and a flea market but the look like they were all meant for each other.

This pieces was sold to a wonderful couple to be used in their little girls nursery.

The perfect piece to grow with her...changing table...desk...make-up vanity.

A client called and asked it I had a nightstand that could be used in a boy's room

so I pulled out this to make a Striped Nightstand.

Later on she brought me the dresser from his room and I added stripes to that as well.

A friend of mine asked if I would make-over her Dining Set for her formal dining room. She has an amazing sense of style so this set was so fun to do!

I had painted this Dresser last year a plain white but it just seem to boring for me.

So once I added the numbers is sold quickly.

I finally got around to making over a piece for myself, this is a rare occasion, usually everything I do is for sale or for a client!

This Entertainment Center will be the inspiration for my living room make-over...hopefully I will be doing that this week and posting pictures soon!

I love this Make-up vanity that I had the privileged of painting

and selling to help raise $ for my friend!

I was going through my pictures and realized that there were a lot of small furniture pieces that I had done, but never posted. So I thought I would just lump them into a big post!

A pair of matching nightstands for a boy's room.

Do you know how hard it is to find matching nightstands for a boy?

I looked for a pair for a few months and finally found these which I love

This rocking chair was painted for a photographer to use in as a photo prop.

This was originally a stool with a wicker top that was falling apart.

So I removed the top and had my husband put on a wood top to

make it a side table.

A little plant stand or side table.

A nightstand painted turquoise and white and glazed with

Martha Stewart Metallic paint.

I found this nightstand on one of my junkin' adventures.

After painting it I realized that I could pair it with this

old, vintage child chair and it works as a child desk!

A client brought over this huge executive desk for a make-over.

It was scratched up but over all in okay condition, just needed some paint.

It is a 2-sided desk with a keyboard pull-out so it had a lot of pieces to paint.

Thankfully my husband helped me put it all back together...

next time I need to take pictures of the hardware/hinges before I pull it all apart!!

I painted it an antique white and then distressed. I am loving this off-white color that I found in the oops section. I have already had it colored matched so I can keep using the color. I LOVE the oops section sometimes it has the most amazing colors!

Here is a little (or I should say BIG) Christmas paint project I had fun doing!

A client asked me if I would be interested in "freshening-up" a few wooden soldiers that had been damaged by the weather.

I told her that it sounded like fun so she brought them to my home.

I had no clue that they were almost 8 foot tall...but they are so cute!

It was a fun paint project and gave me a break from the typical furniture painting.

I found this dresser at a garage sale this summer and

just loved the curved drawers and keyhole locks.

It is a solid well-made piece that just needed a little personality.

I painted it a antique off-white, stained the top and put on new knobs.

The knobs are from Hobby Lobby. Hobby Lobby just opened in our area and I'm super excited!! I have been so jealous of the cute knobs that everyone gets there...now I can get them too (with a 40 minute drive, but so worth it!)!

So here is the story on this latest furniture makeover.

In September my good friend, Kelly, found out she had breast cancer.

With Chemo treatments, medicines, and doctor visits her bills are adding up...

so I got to thinkin'...

and realized I could makeover and sale a piece of furniture to help with her medical bills.

I bought this Solid Maple Vanity that was listed on Craigslist

knowing the potential it had.

I thought about painting it pink-for breast cancer awareness- but something inside kept pushing towards all white. So I went with my "inner voice."

Well... I think the white turned out Lovely! So simple and perfect.

I realized that I had this white and pink chair in my garage so I throwing it as a bonus...my own little way of getting pink and -Breast Cancer Awareness- into the piece!

I found this little End Table on one of my Junkin' Adventures.

The lady who bought this dresser was wondering if I had anything that would

work as a nightstand for her daughter's bedroom.

Of course I thought of that little End Table...it would make a perfect Nightstand.

She wanted it the same color pink...so here it is!

She also wanted something to hang above the dresser,

so she bought the Shabby Chalkboard.

I bet her daughter's room is Super-Duper-Cute!!

Her sister found an Entertainment Center for her to makeover.

Gotta love her sister...I know mine would do the same but she lives in Japan so shipping could get a little expensive!!

Here is an old picture of my living room...it hasn't been set-up like this for a couple of years not, but I don't have a recent picture.

I have been scheming a "new look" for my living room and kitchen quite awhile now. I'm so done with the pink/turquoise color combo in my house.

So now I'm going to go yellow, orange and jade green...I can't wait.

So the first thing to get made over is the pink desk that is up against the wall. My husband added a shelf for the t.v. components quite awhile ago and it had remained unpainted until now....

Orange..orange..orange...I LOVE...LOVE...LOVE...it!!

Yes, my daughter was in the middle of watching Elmo!!

But he has an Orange nose...so it works!!

Excuse the lack of decor and wires...I'll be working these kinks out...

but I just couldn't wait to show this entertainment center makeover.

I know I'll be painting a lot more ORANGE in the future!!

I had a client drop of this old buffet cabinet and wanted it to be made over.

I can't not believe I didn't get a before picture of this thing...it was a mess!

She pulled it out of her Grandpa's barn.

It had at least 4 coats of paint and the colors were very random.

Though I loved the different colors I was finding... grass green, red, mint green...

beautiful old-fashion colors!

After a lot of sanding, stripping and fixing here is what it looks like now.

It still has an old farmhouse look without all the dirt!

I re-used all of the original hardware, the glass knobs had been painted over at least 3 times. The paint came off with a little soaking and scraping.

Sorry for the horrible pictures I took them quickly as we were loading the pieces.

The client also brought this table over and wanted it to coordinate with the buffet.

She found the table for free in front of a thrift store...lucky girl!!

I had a hard time giving her this set back...I fell IN LOVE with it!!

I found a caned back chair awhile ago that was in bad shape, but the caning was great! Which is unusual, usually it is the other way around!

So I cut off the top and had it sitting in my shed until I thought of something for it. I was thinking I was going to do a picture frame like this from All Things Thrifty.

But then I started thinking about earring frames and realized that this may be perfect.

I painted it with a pretty blue color, distressed it and then glazed

it with Martha Stewart's metallic glaze.

It works perfect as an earring display...don't ya think??!!

Remember this nightstand that I painted for a client last month?

Well she called and asked if I would re-do her son's dresser to coordinate with the nightstand.

This is the dresser that she had painted, she wanted to have it re-painted red and add stripes.

I found this little Dresser at a garage sale this summer.

It was looking "shabby" but not in a good way!

After washing all the grime off it, I painted it a pretty pink, distressed it slightly and made it look "Shabby" but in a good way!

I absolutely love these flower knobs...I think they gave the dresser the perfect look.

The fabric lining in the drawer, so cute!

I've loving the "numbered" dressers that have been shown on many blogs so I couldn't wait to do one too!

I painted this dresser last year, took it the Makers' Market (and it didn't sale)
and then put it in storage.

I finally brought it home and painted some numbers on it, now it has some personality!

So, I totally forgot to take a "before" picture of this table and chair set...

but I KNOW we have all seen them before!! These dining sets are everywhere!

This was a make-over for a client who wanted to update the set and

make it perfect for her cute little dining room!

She had the paint "color-matched" from a little bird decoration she had in her dining room. The color is a blue-gray...very pretty! I stripped the table top to bare wood and then stained the top with dark walnut. All the chairs and table legs were lightly distressed.

I think it turned out Lovely...only show how a little paint and time can make an outdated piece come to life and look perfect!

Makers' Market 2011

Well, it has been awhile since I posted but that is due to preparing for this...

Makers' Market 2011.

My friend and I put this Market on on the last Sunday of September, we had 15 vendors this year, a live band, raffle fundraiser and food. It was a great day and a huge success!

Here are a few pictures of my booth.

Crayon Rolls...these are a huge hit with all the moms! The white/turquoise table sold!

A few of my furniture pieces & chalkboards...quite a bit of those sold too!

I also set up the event so here are a few pictures of the things I made.

My mom made the flag banner...so cute!

I found this nightstand at a garage sale this summer and loved the size and shape.

It sat in my garage while I tried to decide exactly how I wanted to paint it. I received a request for a navy blue nightstand for a boys room and this nightstand came to mind. It seems to have a boyish-masculine feel and navy blue seemed perfect.

I'm loving this nightstand...something totally different than my

normal "cottage-shabby chic" colors!

The client also requested stripes in white, red and tan...so this is how I incorporated them...the pull is satin nickel.

I added a fabric lined drawer for a finishing touch.

I totally had fun doing this nightstand...and through it all I learned that the next time I paint navy...I will tint my primer first...it took lots of coats to get this final product

...I LOVE lessons!

I picked this vanity up at a garage sale this year.

I loved the lines and the handles but it need a little bit of work. Over the next few months I found a mirror at a thrift store and a stool at the flea market

that completed this set.

I painted the body a light turquoise and the top white, then aged it with stain.

I think it looks perfect!

I lined the drawers with fabric, so easy and adds the perfect detail!

The handles just need to be cleaned and polished I love the antiqued brass look!

I found this dresser on Craigslist last winter and the best part was it was FREE.

Though it looks great in the picture it was damage and needed some work.

Here is the before picture without the mirror.
The mirror was broken and had to be replaced.

And the AFTER...I had been wanting to do a stained top for awhile and this was the perfect piece.

It turned out Beautiful!

I would love to keep this dresser but it is huge...so I hope it finds a Happy Home!

Chic on a Shoestring Decorating

I bought this boys button down shirt last winter in hopes of making a dress for my daughter. My 1st attempt was to leave the collar and make 3/4 length sleeves but unfortunetly I FAILED! It looked horrible.

So I pulled it out again last night and gave it a 2nd try with and went for a summer look!

Here is the "before" of the shirt.

And after! A little cutting, some bias tape and 2 pink buttons was all it needed to be a Perfect Summer Dress!

I had to bribe her with a pink Starburst so she would take a few pictures!

I LOVE the back of the dress!

I had the privileged of coordinating a wedding at the restaurant where I work.

When I met with the bride she also asked me to do some of the styling for her

Big Day.

I was thrilled, especially since she and I share the same style so I knew this would be FUN!

She had lots of inspiration photos for me to work with

so here are some of the "props" for her wedding.

These are all basic photos and I am looking forward to seeing the photos from the photographer!

The "Vows Sign" was place at the front door of the ceremony.

I wrapped a flower wreath around the top of the milk can.

This large sign was placed behind the head table.

When the spot lights were on it looked amazing!

I made this sign "just for fun" because I though it was so cute.

Here is the start of the dessert buffet. It turned out great.

I also had the privileged of baking many of the goodies for the buffet.

She had Vanilla Whoopie Pies, Mini Berry Pies, Mini Chocolate Cupcakes

and Caramel Corn...yum...yum!!

Another sign directing guest to the reception.

The bride asked me to make her guest sign-in book. Though this was a challenge and did a lot of research to learn how to make a book...I LOVED the whole process.

I plan on making many more books in the future.

The ring bearer pillow, so delicate and perfect.

I created these frames for the guest sitting chart. My husband created this amazing easel out of birch branches. He came up with the idea by himself...he sure knows my style!

What a fun day...

and among all of the excitement coordinating and styling the wedding my husband went to the hospital to pick up our new Foster Child who was only 2 days old.

We are so excited to take care of her for now and if it is in God's plan she may become permanently apart of our family...WHAT A DAY!!

This TEA CART was a surprise for a clients sister who just graduated Culinary School.

The cart was in great condition but just needed a little updating!

She wanted a butter yellow color, distressed and aged!

I love the look of it, very Vintage looking!

And WOW, just an FYI...TEA CARTS take a lot of work...so many little spindles on the wheels! Plus you have to pull the drop-leafs off and paint them separately. Though it is a lot of work it sure is worth it!!

I finally painted this vanity I found awhile back.

This vanity is super common...some furniture company must of made millions of them!!

I paired it with this chair...isn't it lovely???

You should of see the ugly red plaid fabric that was underneath

the brown/tan stripe fabric!!

Amazing what some black paint and new upholstery will do to furniture.

I covered the fabric with a vinyl covering so it would be easy to wipe-down.

The inside of the drawer is painted fuchsia to add a extra fun!

AND...isn't the flower knob super-cute!!

Sacramento Craft and Flea Marketplace

I wanted to share a few pictures from the Market I attended on Sunday, May 22nd.

It was a little cool but still a nice day.

Unfortunately, not a lot of shoppers out,

I guessing because it this Market is only in its 3rd month.

Even though not a huge turnout the day was a success and lots of fun.

I also had the opportunity to meet a couple of ladies who will be participating in our

Makers' Market

at Silva's Sheldon Inn coming this Fall!

This little French Provincial Nightstand was FREE on Craigslist.

Though when something is listed Free then usually that means it needs

a little more than just paint.

The top of the nightstand is particle board so when I sanded it the top was not smooth

and couldn't just be painted.

So I used some fabric and good ol' Modge Podge and it did the trick!

I painted the body of the nightstand white and the top a dark gray.

I used a tone on tone white fabric with little flowers on it to Modge Podge to the top.

The gray paint underneath was perfect because it allowed the flowers to pop out!

I then sealed the top with Polyacrylic.

No that is not a bad spot on the top (bottom, right hand corner) just my camera that has been dropped more than once...time to think about a new camera!!

Another "camera spot" this time on the top left corner! This spot tends to move around!!

Of course I forgot to take a "before" picture of the table but we have all seen them before...though I did get a snapshot of the chairs.

The table came from a friend who was cleaning out props from his store...
the chairs were roadside finds.

Though after a little paint they look like a perfect set!

I painted them a combination of white and light turquoise, then distressed

and aged with stain.

If only this set would seat more then 4 people then I would be dining at it tonight...
but it doesn't so off to Craigslist it goes!

I found this bookcase awhile back and

I swear it is the heaviest thing ever!!

Trust me I know because I lugged this thing many times as I tried to figure out what color and style to paint!!

I decided to use stripper for the first time, which was easy...this thing is solid wood so I primed it then painted it white. I distressed it then sealed it...which a few day's later it had yellow spots all over it....uughh...frustrating!
(Oh...the yellow spots are because I used Polyurethane on white, I know better then that,
just wasn't using my brain that day!)

So out came the sander...more paint... more sanding...stain...bead board...sanding...this piece is a true labor of LOVE.

But well worth it...I have tried every spot in my house because I want to keep it so badly, but nothing works so it's up for sale.

I'll be sad when it's gone...we formed a bond through all that mess!

So, it has been forever since I posted, but I have been working like crazy on pieces...so hopefully these post will be coming closer together!

I found this desk and chair awhile back and just knew they had potential.

I have a feeling that it was thrown out because Brade's Mom was

REALLY ANGRY

about this....

AND THIS TOO...

AND THIS ALSO!!!

But if only she knew that it could be THIS...than maybe she would of thought twice before tossing it to the curb...Honestly I'm surprised that Brade wasn't also thrown to the curb!!

A little gray paint and some stripes can make anything look better!

My son is in Kindergarten and each year they have a Kindergarten Circus.

It is a 45 minute long program with all sorts of circus acts.

They needed a new monkey costume so his teacher asked if I could come up with something. They already had a boy version of the vest and hat so I made the girl version so it could be interchangeable.

I asked my son to model the costume...but I had to bribe him with

M & M's because it was a "girl monkey!"

I can get my kids to do anything for M & M's!!

I used Simplicity Pattern 2855 which was really easy to sew!

For the tail I added wire so it would curl...so cute!

Several years ago Toby's teacher had made a "boy" version of the hat and vest and did a great job so I just traced a pattern from the vest and made the girl version.

For the hat I cut a large yogurt container down, covered it with felt and added the feather.

I made a flower from felt and glued on a flower jewel to add a little pizazz!

Thanks goodness for a glue gun!

In order to make the hat interchangeable I sewed a large patch of Velcro to the top of the monkey head and then glued Velcro to the bottom of each hat.

I had Toby run around all crazy like (actually that is how he acts normally!) and it didn't come off...mission accomplished!

Doesn't he make a cute "girl" monkey...he would be so mad if he knew I wrote this!!!

SSHH...don't tell him!!

So...while I was out picking up a free Craigslist dresser

(more on that later when I actually dig it out of my garage!)

I found this cute little nightstand for free on the side of the road...What a Night!!

The nightstand was in great condition and solid...I could barely lift it to throw it into the truck.

Here it is painted with a deep turquoise color that I mixed myself.

I then distressed and stained it to bring out all of the great lines.

The handles were painted a satin nickel color.

I listed it on Craiglist and it sold a few hours later...always makes me happy!

This table was given to me from a friend who was clearing out their

warehouse of props for their clothing store.

It was tucked in a corner and I thought it wasn't wood because of the faux gold paint on it, but then took a second look and threw it in the truck at the last minute.

Well a couple days later I found these stools on the that someone was throwing out.

I brought them home and then a few days later

the Light Bulb went off in my head

and I ran to the garage and played with my furniture finds.

This is what I ended up with!!!

Found this Nightstand on the side of the road.

I just loved the style of the nightstand but what a horrible color!!

Here is the Makeover.

Light Turquoise paint, a little distressing and some cute knobs!

Now it is perfect for a bedroom, office, kitchen...oh...the ideas!

I also just finished this little set of Drawers.

I forgot to take a before picture, but it had decorative metal sheeting on the drawers and side. The sheeting was peeling off, so I just took off the rest and then painted pink. I aged it with some stain and gave it some wooden knobs.

It has a real vintage, aged look.

It has velvet lined drawers so it would be perfect for a lingerie, jewelry or craft supplies.

I love looking through the Pottery Barn Kids catalog for Inspiration...

but so does my 3 year old Daughter.

And she doesn't look for inspirations she looks for WANTS.

One day she saw this high chair and WANTED it so badly....

but at $59.00 I told her "Maybe dad can make one for you!"

Well he lucked out because on one of my "Junking Adventures" I found this...

Someone had thrown out this vintage highchair.

And though it looks perfect and cute as is, what you don't see is it had been sitting outside in the rain and there was mold growing underneath the seat...gross...gross.

It also had a missing dowel rod on one of the legs. So Dad only had to fix that which took a couple minutes and about 99 cents for a replacement dowel.

After some scrubbing, bleach and Kilz primer here is the finished high chair.

Of course my daughter wanted it pink!

She is as girly as a girl can be!!

Here are two quilts I just finished for my nephews.

Now I just need to get them in the mail they were Christmas presents...oops!!

The best part about these quilts is I only had to spend a total of $14.00 to make them since I only had to buy batting. All the fabric came out of my stash (plus my Aunt gave me the red dog fabric, so thanks Aunt Peg).

I find these old Jewelery Boxes all the time at Thrift Stores and Garages Sales but they are so ugly.

I found this one at a garage sale for only a $1.00...score.

And here it is with a little white paint. I replaced the ugly glass with some wire. It's now in my daughter's room.

This one I found at a Thrift Store, I just loved the lines on the top of the box.

I sold this one at the Makers' Market.

I do not have a before picture of these boxes but they were both ugly.

I made these for my nieces.

So I thought I would pay tribute to Sports since tomorrow is

Super Bowl Sunday.

And for those of you who know me realize I know nothing or could care anything about sports unless it means making it cuter or taste better.

My son received this soccer goal/net for Christmas.

Perfect gift for him but it came with a problem.

When you take it apart it has a million pieces

-okay maybe not a million but it sure felt like it-

So I had to do something about this problem.

And here is the problem solution.

A Soccer Bag!

It cost about $4.50 to make and was worth every penny.

I think I will stand by these in Toys R' Us and sale them to other moms who like organization.

I also made one for my nephew (he received one of these for Christmas too).

All right so now that the sports world is Cuter...let's make it taste better.

Well...the sprinkles of course they are little Football Helmets and Footballs though very hard to see in this picture.

I made them for my co-workers and I know they will LOVE them.

Look at the inside of these...a ball of peanut butter filling yumminess!!

Remember to not fill the cupcake liners to high (as I did) only 2/3 full.

I also made my own frosting using leftover peanut butter filling, some cream cheese, powdered sugar and milk.

I got this nightstand for FREE this past summer and had been holding on to it not sure what to do with it.

Then I kept seeing pictures of play kitchens made from nightstands floating around "blog land" and my vision for this piece became quite clear.

My husband and I transformed it into a Kitchen just in time for our daughters 3rd birthday

Before (with the handles removed)


And after...

I found the spice rack in a pile of junk someone was throwing out and spray painted it a raspberry color.

The faucet was found at a thrift store for 2 bucks.

I had the handles leftover from a previous project.

The oven and faucet knobs were wooden craft feet that someone gave me and sprayed silver.

Old C.D.'s for the stove top.

The shutters are wooden heater/air vents that we found out Habitat ReStore for a total of 6 bucks. My husband cut them down and hinged them.

The sink is an old enamel pot with the handle cut off of it.

I made the pot holder and embellished a washcloth from a vintage pillowcase.

My husband re-did the top drawer and hinged it so it could be used as a oven.

The bottom drawer is perfect for storage.

Over all this project cost us about $12.00 and has already brought hours of entertainment for our 3 year old and though I'm sure he will never admit it our 6 year old son loves it too!!

So it has been awhile since I posted anything, but I have been working on ton's of projects!

A friend of mine needed an Entertainment Center for his new flat-screen t.v. and asked me to do something with clean lines but with an aged look. I found this buffet and knew it could work with a few changes.

Though...I love the original piece and so it was hard for me to change the design.
It would of been Gorgeous with just a little paint!

But anyways...

Here is the finished piece

Doors = Gone!

Feet = Gone!
Handles = Replaced!

Shelf = Added!

SOLD

I first lightly painted on a light green color (the color of his walls) and then painted black on top and distressed. Then glazed with thinned down black paint to even everything out. Though the green is hard to see in the picture it is green showing through on the distressed edges.

This is totally different from anything I normally do...but every guy that has seen this piece LOVES IT!
So I guess it is perfect for the male population!!

My husband and I came home one afternoon and saw this dresser sitting in front of our neighbors house.

I RAN over before anyone else spotted it and checked it out and before I had a chance to say I wanted it my husband walked out with his dolly and moved it right into the garage (gotta LOVE him)!

I just knew it had potential, but this bad "garage" picture doesn't do it justice.
It would be so perfect in a little girl's nursery!

Found this cabinet at a garage sale this summer, of course I forgot to take a before picture of it so you will have to imagine it with peeling green paint. Though the green paint was a perfect vintage color so I did pull a color swatch off of it for a future project!!

With a little pink and white paint, some distressing and the addition of birch branch handles it turned out really cute. It like bringing a little of the outdoors in!

This cabinet would be perfect in a little girl's room, bathroom or craft room.

Found this Magazine Rack on the side of the road in someone's garbage pile.

(Actually my husband "eyed" it, he is getting really good at junk finding!).

I had a hard time deciding what color to paint it so I went with something that would make it pop!

I think this turquoise did the trick, makes it stand out. Though after I painted it I realized that it has a "gypsy lamp" carved in the front.

Wish I needed a Magazine Rack I would keep it for myself!

I found this side table at a garage sale this summer, dark wood with partial scraped off white paint, overall very tacky and need of a makeover.
But I loved the legs on the table.

I brought it home and then tackled it with my paintbrush to give it a makeover it craved!!

So cute and perfect for a entryway or nightstand or accent table or telephone table...

oh so many ideas!!!

The top is painted a creamy off white and I lightly dry brushed the turquoise over it and then removed it with a rag so it is seen in the grain of the wood.

Found this piece in a junk pile during my "trash rounds." Though it looked pitiful I remained positive and thought it still look like it had some life left in it. I took it home, removed the top piece sanded, painted and then went to work with a Dremmel....


And here it is all Prettied-Up!! Love what can be done with a Dremmel, my new favorite Tool. It is the perfect Coffee Table for a small living space.

Found this side table at a garage sale and just couldn't pass it up, I LOVED the lines especially on the doors.

With some paint and new handles, it came out Perfect.


Lined the drawer and painted the inside a pretty shade of Blue...Cute...Cute...Cute.

So...I know I haven't posted any furniture for awhile but that doesn't mean my garage isn't full of unfinished projects.

Luckily today I completed this little nightstand. I found it in a junk pile and just loved the details. The wood was peeling off...so with a little love and attention it turned into this....

Isn't it gorgeous!! It was meant to be rescued and love. I wish I had room for it in my home...but I'm sure someone out there will take great care of it.

This is the first time I lined a drawer and now will be lining all my drawers...super cute!!

Honestly, there is not blotches on the nightstand that is from my poor pitiful camera!!

This vanity belongs to my friend who has had it since a teen and now is going in her 12 year old daughters room. It has definitely seen better days but with a lot of sanding and a few coats of primer, the white paint made the vanity look amazing.

Here it is in her bedroom. Her daughter wanted to paint it purple but mom said no (good choice) so we put purple knobs on it which can easily be changed later. My friend didn't want it "distressed"...do you know how hard it was to not take sandpaper to this thing. Oh well, it still is adorable. And when I dropped it off her husband thanked me for fixing and told me he was going to throw it away...I guess he didn't know what he had!!

So, I finally decided to write a tutorial, Let's see how this goes!!!

Remember these Vintage pillowcase aprons I made awhile back...well here is how to make one like the turquoise gingham one.

Vintage Pillowcase Apron

Supplies:

1 Standard size Vintage Pillowcase

1/2 yard coordinating fabric (sometimes I use another coordinating pillowcase)

2 buttons

Thread

Fold pillowcase in half lengthwise, cut 17 1/2 inches from opening of pillowcase - this is the bottom piece of the apron.


With remaining top part of pillowcase cut apron top. It will already be 12 1/2 " long so you will only cut the width to be 12".

With remaining pillow case scrap cut neck strap 3 1/2 x 21".

Apron tie: 3"x21" Cut 3 (oops, I only showed 2 cuts, sorry, but this is my 1st time, so I'm allowed a few mistakes..right??)

Now for the construction of the apron....

Apron Bottom: fold under raw edge about 1/2" and press.

Apron Top: With wrong sides together sew 12 1/2 inch raw edge together, turn right sides out and press.

Apron ties: Cut one strip of the apron tie material to the width + 1/2" of the bottom part of apron. I usually just hold the material up to the width of the apron and then cut because some pillowcases are different sizes so this allows for an accurate cut.
Sew the other 2 apron tie pieces to each edge of the waist tie.

Press raw edges of apron ties under about 1/2" on all sides. Then fold tie in half and press. Don't sew the apron tie yet...you will do this when you attach it to the apron.

Neck strap: Fold in half lengthwise, press, fold end edges under 1/4" press, then fold each lengthwise edge under to meet half fold, press, then fold in half and press. Confused??? Look at next picture for details.

Hope these detail help!! Sew raw edges of neck strap together.
Eew, don't look at my gross ironing board cover.
Next on my to-do list...Wash ironing board cover.

Find center of apron bottom and top. Open up apron bottom and place apron top inside matching the center points. Pin. So....the apron top should be sandwiched between the apron bottom. Now sew together.

Pin the apron tie to waistline.Now sew the apron tie to the apron and sew all the edges together.

Fold down apron top about 1 1/2 " and sew neck strap evenly to each side.

Choose buttons and sew them on....

Now go be cute in the kitchen and bake some cupcakes!!!

I made two of the pink gingham aprons and this orange/gray flower one for my friends....super cute!!!

I found this little Slipper Rocking Chair in a junk pile just waiting for someone to rescue it!

I loved the size and details of the chair and cannot believe someone just threw it out.

My handy husband replaced the seat and I painted the chair black.

Someone is going to be sorry they threw this out...isn't it lovely??!!!
